Paralympic double gold and silver medal winner Georgie Hermitage picked up her MBE yesterday at Buckingham Palace. This ‘crowns’ what has been an amazing 6 months since she achieved such great success at the 2016 Rio games. She overcame all her self-doubts, the challenges of cerebral palsy, being a full-time mum to Tilly and the juggling of her training. We at Compleet Feet, Alton are proud to have played a smallĀ  part in sponsoring Georgie. We as a podiatry clinic looked after all her podiatry needs, ensured she had supportive and corrective orthotic insoles, gave her an Erchonia XLR8 low level laser to use in pre and post training and helped with some of her childcare costs, so she could train.

From the very beginning Katrina Waller saw Georgie’s great potential to be a winner at Rio, and never doubted she couldn’t do it. She could see she just needed a little bit of podiatry tweaking to improve her biomechanics, and then there was no reason for her not to succeed. The niggling issue of a recurrent left foot stress fracture was carefully monitored, and the low level laser therapy helped to keep it in check. The XLR8 635nm red laser is frequency specific so bespoke laser protocols were designed to treat any potential stress issues. Georgie predominantly found it helped her after training. It reduced lactic acid build up, which canĀ  predispose athetes to injuries.

The role of a low level laser like the ‘smart’ XLR8 is to biostimulate optimal cellular performance, by increasing the levels of mitochondrial adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the cellular energy which athletes need for preconditioning and improved performance. Dopping without any toxic side-effects or legal implications. For a ‘challenged’ athlete like Georgie the laser really did support her. The CP did not hinder her performance as much as it could have done without it, but at the end of the day it was all Georgie’s dedicated hard work and sweat that got her to victory.
