Compleet Feet’s Latest Laser Fungal Nail Treatment News
Compleet Feet has successfully been treating fungal nail infections since 2011. We were one of the very first laser fungal nail clinics in the UK. To date we have treated over 600 patients alongside our Brighton clinic. 600 patients results in nearly 5,000 appointment sessions based on people having between 4 or 8 appointments, and this figure does not include the appointments to have their cultures taken or any reviews! Total laser treatments performed in our clinics is approaching 10,000!
We have seen a real improvement in our success rates since we switched from the thermal laser in February 2014 to the Lunula ‘Cold’ laser. We constantly audit our results and look for best practice, hence we were one of the first podiatry clinics to have the Clearanail drill. We had one of the prototypes! What we have learnt through our experience in treating fungal nail infections with low level lasers, best results are achieved through having 6 – 8 treatment sessions close together. The fungal dermaphytes need to be bombarded to weaken, to create a process of cell death, and the closer we can perform the treatments together, the better the result. Must not allow the dermaphytes to recover and get strong again. To speed up appointment times we use 2 lasers simultaneously.
We are brilliant at getting ‘clinical cures’ whereby we get negative culture growth after a treatment course. The hard bit is getting the damaged nail to grow out safely to a ‘treatment cure’ , which can take many months without getting re-infected. Getting some anti-fungal drug into the nail plate helps, which is an integral part of their treatment, and by indoctrinating patients to stick to all our advice. We ensure we arm people with as much advice as possibe to ensure a great result.
We work very hard with our clients reflecting on all our experience to deliver successful outcomes. There is very little we do not know about laser fungal nails treatments, and we continue to be a market leader by ensuring we keep researching new treatment developments, and auditing our results.
We now have a new podiatrist working at our Brighton Clinic. Lucy Romero-Clark is leaving and is being replaced by Richard Pryer. Lucy has done a fabulous job for us and we wish her well in her future plans. We know Rich will be equally as good.
