Plantar fasciitis is a common debilitating condition which presents with pain radiating around the heel and into the arch of the foot. Classic symptoms are pain and stiffness in the affected foot when first placing foot to ground in the morning and after sitting down for long periods of time. It can cause the sufferer to limp and affect daily activities. Conservative treatments are a cushioning heel pad/lift, arch supports and stretching and massage. These all help, but to varying degrees. For many people nothing works to resolve the pain leading to them getting more and more miserable.
Compleet Feet we treat on average 2-3 people per week with heel pain. It is so important to find out how, why and what could have been the etiological factors to have triggered the heel pain? Change in footwear, activity, injury or there is a more complex biomechanical issue regarding the functioning and structural alignment of the foot?
We offer a range of treatments to include orthotic intervention, exercises, K-Taping and Erchonia low level laser therapy. Combination therapy works extremely well. The laser helps to increase the circulation to the stressed tissues around where the plantar fascia inserts into the heel and any micro-tears along the fascial bands. The laser also stimulates increased levels of circulating fibroblasts and growth hormones both associated with healing and repair. It is all about the mitochondria, these wonderful little cellular organelles in cells which are akin to batteries providing the energy required to ‘get things done’. Stressed tissues flatten the ‘batteries’ very quickly, so healing processes stagnate, but the laser acts as a ‘jump-lead’ to recharge them.
Sounds very simplistic, but in effect it is a very complex biological process. Erchonia are world leaders in low level laser research, and these clever chaps in white coats have developed lasers which can be programmed specifically to optimise this ‘battery’ recharging for specific cellular structures.
There is a specific FDA cleared setting for plantar fasciitis! The Erchonia PL Touch and XLR8 lasers can quickly turn non-healing cases of plantar fasciitis around to put the spring back in patient’s feet. Low level laser accelerates healing outcomes without having to take drugs. Very safe and very effective.
